Issuu is a platform for online publications. I joined a team of 7 developers in charge of running a system where many thousands of new documents were uploaded and millions of documents were served daily. The company grew almost explosively, and when I left, the head count at Issuu was around 60. While a Issuu, I worked with many new technologies, and in many different roles.
As a backend developer, I
- Assisted on a rework of the statistics module, tracking document life cycles
- Prototyped and tested Issuu's first node.js setup
- Worked on Issuu's HTTP Rest API
- Extended and streamlined the deployment pipeline
- Implemented payment integrations
- Worked on streamlining a load balancing setup for over 300 servers in Issuu's AWS cloud
- Worked on the occasional fronted component
As a project lead, I
- Was responsible for a project integrating Issuu with an online printing service
As a team lead, I
- Managed a team of 8 developers
- Helped transition to an agile development process
